About Me

Hello!! :)

My name is Tara Kinder.  I am currently an Exceptional Learners Collaborative Hearing Itinerant Teacher in Lake County, Illinois. I am new to the ELC this year in 2022! I have been teaching in this field of education for 27 years. I have a Bachelor's degree in Education with endorsements in the education of Deaf and hard-of-hearing students aged 3-21. I have a Master's degree in Educational Leadership.

My interest and passion has historically been in learning and implementing new and motivational real-world application activities to develop my students' auditory skills as well as their self-advocacy and self-esteem regarding their hearing loss and amplification equipment!  I also enjoy developing and applying my growing interest, understanding, and use of technology as it relates to my student's needs and interests!

Outside of school, I am celebrating my 19th wedding anniversary this summer with my husband Jim. We are joined at home by our chocolate labrador retriever mix, who truly rescued us:) During the pandemic I added a rainbow Beta fish to our family of critters named Sebastian! I also adore spoiling my 12-year-old twin nephews Gary and Louis as often as possible!

I welcome the opportunity to connect with you this school year!
